The Southeastern Virginia Arts
Association ( SEVAA) Scholarship
Foundation was created in 2003 to
provide an additional venue for
celebrating the arts in the African
American community.
The foundation is dedicated to
developing and promoting the creative
and artistic talents of youth in
Southeastern Virginia.
Scholarships are awarded to school
age and college students who
demonstrate ability in any area of the
five art disciplines which SEVAA
promotes. Additionally, they must
demonstrate need for monetary
assistance. Sponsors two Scholarships:
Dr. Georgia A. Ryder Scholarship
The Dr. Georgia Ryder Scholarship is available
for high school students or first semester freshmen
who plan to pursue degrees in the arts.
Candidates must have high scholastic achievement
and must have high ethical standards and
character.
Robert Wynn - Jackson Scholarship
The Robert Wynn-Jackson Scholarship is
awarded to elementary and middle school students
who participate in the Summer Arts Workshop
and other activities.
ELIGIBILTIY: - Must be a graduating high school senior who wishes to pursue a degree in one of the five disciplines of the arts (visual, theatre, music, literary, dance);
- Must have high scholastic achievement;
- Candidate must be a person with high ethical standards and character.
